Case Study: What can I do if the transducer I am using has a non-linear sensitivity over its measuring range?
Recently a PROSIG user wanted to measure a specific temperature parameter on a running engine. The transducer being used was one of the engine sensors built into the engine operating system to minimize engine emissions and maximize fuel economy. Unfortunately, the sensitivity of this transducer was not constant over the desired temperature range. The question then became, how can the output from this non-linear transducer be used to accurately measure the desired temperature parameter? (more…)

This article is the first in a series that will introduce two very important facilities that can be used when creating DATS worksheets – Named Elements and Global Variables. It is perfectly possible to perform simple measurement and analysis with DATS without knowingly using either of them. However, knowing how they work and what they can do, will lead to much more efficient and flexible worksheets. The first subject we’ll look at is Named Elements. (more…)

This note is based on a real requirement presented to Prosig by a prospective user. It’s the sort of challenge that we relish. This case is a great example of a real-world signal processing requirement and also great test of some of the unique features of Prosig’s DATS software. It also shows the power and flexibility of the new DATS V7.0 worksheets.
